Open Scholarship Café: Being Open on social media

Open Scholarship Café: Being Open on social media In-Person

Sharing your research on Twitter, ResearchGate etc. A good idea?

This Open Scholarship Café will be an in person event, with free vegetarian pizza! Because we will have to order (and pay for) catering we ask you make sure you will be able to attend the event!

Can other scholars find my publications online? How can I use social media to increase the reach of my research?

There is a link between Open Scholarship and scholarly online presence. One of the benefits of Open Scholarship is that your research & teaching materials will be more visible. Social media and scholarly networks can help with that.

This Open Scholarship Café will look at what social media networks are useful, and how you create a personal communication strategy. We will also discuss what networks work better with Open Scholarship principles and how you can share your material legally. There will be time to exchange personal experiences and successful examples. The discussion will be led by Hardy Schwamm, Open Scholarship Librarian at NUI Galway.

We will start this Café with a slice of pizza and a chat. Please bring your own drinks. If a slice of vegetarian pizza does not work with your dietary requirements, please contact Hardy (hardy.schwamm@nuigalway.ie). This will be the first in person Open Scholarship Café after some time and we are very much looking forward to welcoming anyone with an interest in Open Scholarship. Research students, staff (junior/senior), all welcome!

Open Scholarship Cafés are organised in partnership of the Library with the Open Scholarship Community Galway. You can sign up to the Community Newsletter or become an OSCG member!
